Press Release Regarding the Visit of Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, to Turkey

High Commissioner Grandi who took office as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees on 1 January 2016 will pay his first official visit to Turkey on 15-16 January 2016. On this occasion, he will attend Gaziantep segment of the VIII. Ambassadors Annual Conference.
UNHCR Grandi will meet with H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on 15 January in Gaziantep. During the meeting, global migration and refugee issues with particular attention to Syrians in Turkey will be discussed. The High Commissioner will also visit Nizip Temporary Protection Centre in Gaziantep, where Syrians are accommodated.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees will also be received by Prime Minister H.E. Ahmet Davutoğlu, on 16 January.
