No: 59, 27 February 2018, Press Release Regarding the Release of Salih Müslüm by the Czech Court
The Czech Court’s denial of our provisional arrest request for Salih Müslüm, the leader of PYD terrorist organization, Syrian branch of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization, does not comply with its obligations under international law to combat terrorism.
PYD is the Syrian branch of the PKK, recognized as a terrorist organization by the European Union of which the Czech Republic is a member.
The Czech Court, instead of taking into custody, by releasing Salih Müslüm, demonstrated its indifference towards the loss of dozens of innocent civilian lives and grief of their families.
The Czech Republic, with this decision, has revealed once again another example of insincere and unconvincing discourse on counter terrorism in Europe.
